WRECK DIVING: EXPLORE UNDERWATER HISTORY

Sunken ships, aircraft, and other wrecks are windows into the past that have become rich artificial reefs. The SSI Wreck Diving program provides you with the knowledge and skills necessary to safely explore these underwater treasures, learning how to navigate around them and identify both points of interest and potential hazards.

In our area, we have the privilege of diving on iconic wrecks such as the Reggio Messina, a 122-meter giant, or the Marmoler, a ship that still carries its original cargo of marble. These sites are the perfect setting for this training, where history meets abundant marine life.

What will you learn?

  • Wreck Navigation: How to safely move around the exterior of a sunken vessel.

  • Safety and Risks: Identifying potential hazards and how to assess the condition of a wreck before the dive.

  • Buoyancy Techniques: Precise control to avoid damaging the environment or kicking up silt that reduces visibility.

  • Specialized Equipment: Proper use of dive lights and cutting tools suitable for wreck environments.

Course Details:

  • Minimum age: 15 years old (due to the depth of these specific wrecks).

  • Prerequisites: Open Water Diver certification & Deep Diving

  • Structure: Online theory, personalized in-person review with the instructor, and 2 open water dives.

  • Certification: Upon completion, you will receive your official SSI digital certification directly in the MySSI App.
